2016 SUNY Maritime Junior Regatta
The SUNY Maritime Junior Regatta, August 9th, went very well.
The team did not do well but they all said they learned a lot. We ended up
forth out of four teams. The top individual finisher on our team ended up
10th out of 17 boats with a third in the last of seven races.
The wind varied from 5 to 15 knots with shifts of 40 degrees blowing across
the east river. It made for some interesting windward legs! I have
attached a link to some photos I took at the event. Thank to all at HRYRA
for supporting the junior sailors.

The Joe Naar Regatta at Shattemuc Yacht Club was originally scheduled for Saturday, July 16th but unfortunately the weather was not cooperating so we were forced to reschedule to Monday, July 18th. We had a variety of wind conditions on Monday, ranging from light to heavy air. The racing was extremely competitive as the variable wind conditions kept the finishes tight and exciting. At the conclusion of the regatta, we had completed 8 races. We would like to thank all of the sailors for a great regatta and hope to see them all next year!
